California Golden Jackfruit
California Golden Jackfruit is a distinctive heritage selection preserved and grown at CH Fruit Tree Nursery. The original tree was obtained from the San Diego area and has grown and produced fruit successfully in Southern California for more than 20 years.
The mature mother tree produces multiple large, elongated green fruits. When fully ripe, the fruit contains attractive golden-yellow flesh with large, thick edible bulbs. Its strong fruit production and long history in Southern California make this selection especially valuable to collectors and tropical fruit growers.
Propagated From a Proven Mother Tree
Every California Golden Jackfruit tree offered for sale is propagated by grafting—not grown as an unselected seed Heritage. The scion wood comes from the established mother tree shown in our photographs.
Grafting preserves the desirable characteristics of the original tree and generally provides more predictable fruit quality than ordinary seed-grown jackfruit trees. Individual tree growth and fruit production will still depend on climate, care, soil, container size, and winter protection.
A Southern California Heritage Selection
The original cultivar identity was not preserved when the tree was obtained more than 20 years ago. We therefore offer it under the nursery selection name California Golden Jackfruit rather than assigning it an unverified commercial cultivar name.
This name reflects its golden-yellow flesh and its proven history of growth and fruit production in Southern California.
